Thermal Engineering wins North Herts Business Award November 2001

Thermal Engineering plc was judged as the Most Successful Business of 50 or more staff at the fifth North Herts Business Awards, held at Stevenage Arts and Leisure Centre during November 2001. Organised by Community Media Ltd and sponsored by English Partnerships, the event was given extra spice and glamour by the presence of outrageous comedienne Ruby Wax as host.

The award to Thermal Engineering was presented by Roy Testa, head of sales at the Comet, who sponsored the award.

Environmental Policy

Thermal Engineering plc are a supplier of manufactured & engineered thermal parts to the aerospace industry. Our aspirations as a company are to become a market leader in the supply of manufactured & thermally engineered parts.

Managing Director Steve Ireland will be responsible or developing & finalising objectives and maintaining this policy. The responsibility for the management of the system resides with EMS Manager Tony Hayes. The scope of this policy & the Environmental Management System (EMS) covers all operations conducted at Thermal Engineering plc, Orchard Road, Royston.

Environmental Initiatives already Developed at Thermal Engineering plc

Thermal Engineering plc have already made a positive impact upon the environment by adopting the following principles:

Developing designated bike areas which have encouraged staff to cycle to work

Segregation of metal and card waste streams for recycling.

Our Commitment to the Environment

In order to show our commitment to the environment Thermal Engineering plc will adhere to the following:

1. Develop a workable environmental Management System (EMS) that is accredited to ISO 14001:2004 standard.

2. Develop procedures which ensure that Thermal Engineering plc are legally compliant with applicable legislation & any memberships to which it may subscribe.

3. Consider waste management practices & further reduce waste to landfill by introducing reduce, re-use & recycle techniques.

4. Introduce environmental monitoring & formal environmental reporting into the organisation.

5. Training all staff on basic environmental awareness & the significant effects that our company has on the environment as our staff will play a key role in ensuring Thermal Engineering plc reduce its environmental impact & contribute to environmental sustainability.

6. To audit and manage suppliers based on the risk supplier poses to the company and our Environmental Management System.

7. To promote our environmental efforts to all stakeholders concerned; in particular our custmers, suppliers and local community through viable communication channels such as the internet.

In addition to the above Thermal Engineering plc will make a commitment to continuous environmental improvement by developing yearly objectives.

Furthermore, we will endeavour to research and implement new development techniques, products and technology that are focused on pollution prevention and reducing environmental impact.
