Job Title:                    EH&S Officer

Reports to:                EH&S Manager

Direct Reports:         Lead Fire Marshal & Lead First Aider

Purpose of Role:

  • To provide EH&S expertise and support across the Company whilst ensuring a behavioral safety cultural approach is being applied to ensure employees are operating within EH&S parameters.
  • To support the EH&S Manager in development and delivery of initiatives targeted at reducing and managing EH&S risks with the emphasis on continual improvement across the Company.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To assist the Environmental, Health and Safety Manager in delivering and maintaining environmental and safety management systems that ensure the business is compliant with international standards and best practice
  • To support the Environmental, Health and Safety Manager in delivery of specific projects that makes a step performance in environmental, health & safety management
  • To support in aspects of SATE environmental management 14001-2015 certification applying best practise standards through continual improvement
  • To influence the factory safety culture by engaging with employees and management in improvement of health & safety by implementing a behavioural safety approach
  • To assist and coach Operations Management and Team Leaders in accident and near miss reporting and investigations, and help to develop permanent safety improvements
  • To deliver training to Team Leaders and the workforce in safety processes and procedures, and to keep up to date the environmental, health and safety training records
  • Keep the EH&S accident / incident tracker system up to date and report back to the business on potential trends
  • To assist in the collection and analysis of the KPIs and performance data required to manage the EH&S operation
  • To monitor and audit the day to day processes that ensures compliance to EH&S objectives.
  • To work with the Operations team to develop and implement energy reduction plans
  • To be involved in the early specification and design of new plant equipment to ensure safe systems of work and regulatory compliance is applied
  • To help organise regular plant safety reviews in conjunction with the maintenance department to ensure that the plant’s performance are discussed at the appropriate levels

 

Key Requirements:

Essential

  • A recognised Environment, Health and Safety Qualification
  • Competent at delivering bespoke EH&S training courses
  • You must be organised, be sable to prioritise work effectively, and to work well under pressure
  • You will have good written and oral communication skills and a positive approach to all areas of your work


Desirable

  • A sound understanding of the ISO 14001:2015 standard
  • Educated to HNC/HND or Degree Level
  • Experience of working within an Environmental, Health and Safety role in a manufacturing environment
